Art and creativity are one of my great passions, and alongside that there has been a consistent desire to apply my art.
I was told in my teens at Art College that I was “no good” at Surface Pattern. Some ‘teachers’ are too self-absorbed to see potential or an underlying passion, and steamroller dreams before they get chance to take route.
It is a narrative that has stayed with me too and I am still struggling to break free from.
Regardless, I am now moving forwards and applying my art in ways that I find value in.
Paintings
Original art is still my focus and painting animals that need our support to survive. I will continue to try and raise awareness through my art and bring the stories of animals in need to the world, using the ICUN Red List as a guide.
The way I paint remains the same, at least for now anyway, but what is wonderful is that I get to flex my design skills too by preparing my art images for products. Finally feels like a coming together of the various parts of me, including the gardening…as a place where I seek inspiration (and exercise).

Sustainability
Hugely important to me, is that I am not just creating a boat load of tat that could ultimately end up in landfill. I am selecting products that I would want to buy and own, that are sustainable and from companies that have a pro-planet outlook like my own.
I also want the products to be used and loved, not become some dusty ornament.
Currently I am offering cushions, tea towels and earthenware mugs.
The mugs come from nearby Stoke-on-Trent, the cushions come in vegan faux suede or 100% organic cotton, and the tea towels in a quality 190gsm 100% organic cotton that are just lovely.
These are pre-order only with full payment taken upfront, both by me from my customers and the UK manufacturer when I place the order. Turnaround is six to eight weeks for me to receive and ship items to customers.
Plus, each order I place with the manufacturer they commit to planting a tree.
There is no waste and no unwanted products lying around.
Drop-shipping
All my art is soon to be made available as Giclee art prints. These are an affordable option to owning art and are exceptional quality, with an archival life span of 80 years; and are a beautiful addition to any home.
The company I have chosen for this are working hard to protect our environment and are registered Carbon Neutral.
When you order, a message goes directly to the art print company, and they create and dispatch your order within a few days. Along with the print, you will receive a letter from me thanking you for your business.
Coming soon… an exciting opportunity recently landed in my inbox, one I am keen to pursue.
My art applied to glasses, thermos’, drink bottles (not plastic) and potentially candles (although these will depend on the candles ingredients – soy is causing Rainforests to be dug up, bees wax means that bees are exploited…it’s a conundrum).
All these items are being sourced sustainably and having spoken to the business owner I know his ethos lines up with mine.
It is time for a better world! Thank goodness some business owners are taking this seriously.
Until next time, be the light you seek from others.
Love and light…
